In the Spotlight at NWDA

What a month! Winter may be over but dance season is in full swing and our competitive dancers at NWDA have been heating up the stages at Trio-3Revolution, Thunderstruck, Dupree, and Spotlight! NWDA soloists celebrated their Revolution debut with several top 10 placements, including a first place award to Miss Audrey Stich for her solo The Air in the age 12-14 White category.

NWDA closed out February with a trip to Thunderstruck, where our petite dancers shined on stage, and with a rocking good time at Dupree Dance Convention! We love Dupree Dance because they always provide expert instruction in a warm and inviting atmosphere that really encourages dancers to grow. Being able to compete at convention where they receive feedback from teachers they have worked with gives dancers further insight and perspective to build on in the future. NWDA dancers thrived at Dupree with overall winners and top 5 placements in multiple cadancepixstegories, as well as a clean sweep of the Competitive Mini Category with NWDA dancers Charlotte Weseman, Grace Tift, and Cecilia Elbrecht receiving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards respectively! Several of our dancers received full scholarship awards for next year as well, with winners across all four Phazes of convention!

Most recently, NWDA dancers lit up the stage at Spotlight Dance Cup where they were awarded with top 10 placements, category winners, special judges’ awards, and several Top 4 Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire winners. Congratulations to soloists Vivien Palmer, Amanda Ueltschi, and Isabella Spidell who all received overall Diamond (top 1st place) awards for their respective categories and congratulations again to Isabella Spidell on being chosen as Junior Miss Spotlight! Northwest Dance and Acro was also honored to receive the Petite Triple Crown and Senior Triple Crown awards thanks to the stellar performances of petite solos Torn, Feelin’ Good, and Power of Love, and senior solos Found, Someone New, and Opaque!

It’s been an amazing winter season here at NWDA but we’re ready for some fun and sun in the coming months and we’re sure you are, too! Stay tuned to see how our dancers leap into spring at NWDA!
