The first competition of the season is always particularly exciting because we finally get to see the results of hours of hard work on stage and it can also be a great occasion to refine routines and spot areas of improvement to focus on throughout the season. One of the best aspects, though, are all of the team bonding opportunities that occur over the course of the weekend-- from parents stepping in to help each other get ready for the next routine to kids offering encouragement to each other before taking the stage-- that reinforce the dance family relationship we celebrate at NWDA. Take a look at some of our special stage moments from the weekend above.
Visit Rainbow Results for a full listing of results, but here are a few highlights from NWDA's weekend:
Special congratulations to our Starz of Tomorrow 8 and under small group routines Cruisin' For A Bruisin' which won 2nd Overall and A Day in for the Cat in the Hat which won 3rd overall. For many of these young dancers, it was their first competition and they did a fantastic job! Also, we'd like to give a shout out to Miss Hailey Nelson on winning the Mascot Award with her routine Take On the World!
Our Elite Starz 8 and under soloists also had a great showing with Miss Vivien Palmer performing I Will Always Love You and receiving 3rd overall, Miss Cecilia Elbrecht with You Raise Me Up receiving 4th overall, and Miss Sophia Darby with Queen Bee receiving 5th overall!
Our Elite Starz 9-11 soloists had a fantastic weekend with Miss Charlotte Weseman receiving 2nd overall for Viola, Taylor Bradshaw receiving 5th overall for Malade, Miss Emma Griffith receiving 9th overall for All I want, and Miss Isabella Spidell receiving 10th overall with Titanium!
Our Elite Starz 9-11 small groups had excellent debuts with These Four Walls receiving 3rd overall and You Move Away receiving 8th!
And last, but certainly not least, out of a whopping 87 soloists our Elite Starz 12-14 soloists finished strong with Miss Elinor Seth taking home 7th place overall with Sarah's Notebook, and Miss Reagan Stuller receiving 18th overall for Heart Cry!
Congratulations to all of our dancers on a superb kickoff of the 2017 competition season!
